About Khidmat Centre

Get to know more

Khidmat Centres Ltd was established in 2004 to provide health and wellbeing facilities for the community in two of Bradford’s most deprived areas. Both Centres are purpose built on lands acquired from the Bradford Metropolitan Council. The larger of the two Khidmat Centres (Spencer Road, BD7) was built in 2004 with financial input from the European Social Fund (ESF) on a site previously occupied by a school.
Therefore, the organisation oversees the management of two purpose built community Centres which provide a range of facilities and services for vulnerable members of the community-elderly, people with learning disabilities, women, young people and more recently women leaving the criminal justice system.
Over the last ten years, we have proactively worked towards reducing our reliability on grants by moving towards a self-income regeneration model. This has been realised through various initiatives such as developing a model of day-care provision which is self-generating, hire of facilities in the centre to the public/service providers and long term ‘housing’ of other providers in our centre. The organisation has not been adverse to accessing grants for specific projects but we have encouraged a culture of self-reliance to ensure longevity in this climate of financial austerity.
