Our research, funded by the Barrow Cadbury Trust, explores the experiences of young Muslim women in the British criminal justice system and the factors behind their increasing numbers. This groundbreaking study will document their challenges, highlight the need for culturally appropriate support, and spark critical discussions on vulnerability, exploitation, and criminalisation. Led by the Muslim Women in Prison project, with nearly a decade of expertise in this field, the study will also involve academics from Leeds Beckett and Sheffield Hallam Universities to ensure academic rigor and impact.
